The Gibson Guitar Is Truly A Work Of Art

August 17, 2009admin No Comments »

Can a guitar be considered a work of art? Of course not all artwork made is meant to be hung on walls in museums. The design and sound of the Gibson electric guitar is truly unique, and luckily for us musicians, this great instrument allows us to showcase our sound to the world. With the exception of the Hard Rock Café, the Gibson Les Paul guitar was built to be played and not to be hung up on walls. With the advent of Rock and Roll the sound of the Gibson Les Paul gave musicians like Jimmy Page the sound of Led Zeppelin. Other famous rock and roll musicians from Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Pete Townsend, and Eddie Van Halen played Gibson guitars.

Rock and Roll would not be as popular today if it were not the sound of the solid body electric guitar Paul develop as well a multi-track recording. So how did Paul come up with such an innovative invention? In 1941, Paul constructed his famous “Log,” as it was called – a four-by-four piece of lumber with strings and a pickup. It was his first solid body electric guitar. As the story goes when he took it to Gibson Mandolin and Guitar Company, they laughed him out of the building. Paul didn’t give up tweaking and experimenting. And we are all thankful for it.
