What Are You Going To Be For Halloween

October 17, 2009admin No Comments »

It’s that time of year again when little kids look to slip on a Halloween costume to coax out the neighbor ‘s supply of candy. Of course it is all in fun. Every year it seems there is the hot costume; the one every kid wants to wear and it usually coincides with the most recent popular movie.

When Freddie Krueger hit the big screen kids wearing his persona wanted to make households scream. Nightmare on Elm Street still has its devoted fans, usually teenagers, so I expect to see Freddie comprise his role once again. Costume manufacturers made the mask and that creepy slasher glove. Kids borrowed their grandfather’s hat. A simple costume indeed.

When the movie Star Wars was breaking box office records, young Jedis of the world took the streets wanting something sweet. They weren’t much of a surprise because their plastic white shell could be heard making noises before they got to ring the front door. Costume manufacturers love the sci-fi genre. This year I’ll put my candy on the movie Where The Wild Things Are and the wolf costume the little boy Max wears. The Max character likes to make mischief. It is a simple outfit any mom could make which probably has costume makers crying foul unless of course they’re banking on selling the crown. Let the wild rumpus begin.
