The other night I was in line at Borders when the cashier helping the woman in front of me suggested that the lovely tote bags behind her on a shelf was marked down to practically give away money status when total spending exceeded a certain amount. Obviously this woman had and just like that the sale was on. Of course the woman’s impulse reaction to say “I’ll take it” was met with no resistance. With that said the cashier conveniently placed her purchased items into the tote and the woman walked away feeling that she scored a big one with her new tote.

Some grocers are selling totes as a substitute to paper or plastic bags. If you bring in a recycled tote regardless of where you purchased it they the grocer credits your bill with a few pennies. As more and more grocers get in on the action of selling their own totes you should see in the near future a more colorful and attractive tote. And designs that will change randomly and often because we consumers like to shop with our eyes. A well designed tote can be used other than going to the grocer. We’ll use them to pack kid’s school lunches (yes they do have small size totes), or to stuff beach toys at a moment’s notice when heat overtakes us on those hot and humid summer days.

Why am I telling you all this? Well the last time I looked I have a closet full of these totes. Sadly, every time I visit the grocery store I always seem to forget these totes at home. So I am faced with a choice. Paper or plastic? No, I’ll just buy that cool looking tote behind you on the shelf. And I get to save 5 cents.

Looking for something different than the typical birthday cake? Why not a fortune cookie? But not just any fortune cookie. In fact if you can put in your own special poem to a love one wouldn’t it be worth so much more to you? Well there is a company called Lady Fortunes doing just that. Making it easy for you to write your own personal note which they place inside a fortune cookie. But these fortune cookies are not the normal size. They are super sized! Choose from a variety of chocolates and toppings to fit any occasion not just birthdays and you have a novelty item that will surely be a hit to whom ever receives it. And the best part is everything is edible except for the paper – well I guess you can eat that too, but why would you. Take the fortune and stick it in a frame as a keepsake. Just eat the cookie. Granted it’s a work of art.

What’s up with all those sneaker heads? They stand in line for days waiting for stores to release the latest models that sell in the three figures that later can be found on line for thousands more. To some of these aficionados it’s a passion and an obsession. To others it’s strictly a business, while to others it’s is just what fashionistas do in these modern times.

Nike has capitalized this sneaker subculture by making collectible small limited editions. This in turns brings the price up to any one willing to lay down big bucks. To them why would anyone want to wear something easily made available to the masses. Simple economics – supply and demand.

When rappers and sports figures started to appear in TV commercials and print ads sneakers became a status symbol. Shoe companies quickly competed for these well-known celebrities. Artists put their brushes to sneakers instead of canvas. Hand painted models hit the market giving these artists instant notoriety.

Shoe companies kept the mass merchandising machine cracking into the skateboard world signing professional boarders who brought out a new demographics with their unique design style statement. Sneaker heads come from all walks of life. They share one thing in common. Its just some choose to wear them while others choose to collect them.

If a photograph is worth a thousand words, then there are thousands of frames out in the marketplace to display those photographs. Have you noticed the assortment of photo frame choices you have at your disposal these days? How you choose something that fits your style depends on more than money. It may be a stainless steel or aluminum picture frame or it may be made of wood. Painted frames or stained wood frames give the buyer choices that either sit on your favorite living room mantel or hung neatly on a wall.

Manufacturers have made it so easy for the consumer to just slip in a sized photo because now they come in all types of standard print sizes that getting a frame custom made is no longer the only option. If you want to put two photos into a frame, well they have that too. Three photos or more into one frame is no problem. You’ll find many options for multi-prints also.

Some picture frames come with a decorative border. There are frames especially designed for children. Picture frames make perfect wedding, birthday or anniversary gifts. Because of the many options buyers now have to choose from, one can easily find what they are looking for based not only on looks but also on price. Online frame shops provide shoppers with a wide selection to pick from and most stores offer free shipping.
