Finch Studios
Evolution is the gradual development of something from a simple to a more complex form. Charles Darwin developed his theory of evolution through an intensive study of the finches that inhabited the Galapagos Islands. He discovered 13 species of finches, each with a unique beak, which was adaptive to its specific type of food. Finch Studios is rooted in the belief that design is a process of evolution. Through design, one filters through numerous concepts to arrive at a final visual solution.
While it is relatively easy to come up with a design solution for anything it is often hard to come up with a solution that not only solves the problem or task at hand but one that has the ability to be embraced or used easily. Often times the most successful solutions appear on the surface to be the simplest yet frequently are the hardest to arrive at.
Often it is only through extensive experimentation on all levels that the “best” solution for a problem is recognized. Along the way it is inevitable that a series of missteps and false approaches will appear. While experimentation may be seen by some as a waste of time it is only through this that innovation will occur, and the best solution present itself. Without innovation you may have a solution but is it the “best ” solution.
It is easy to see why design and innovation are so closely related and intertwined with one another. While design has been at times seen as something only for the elite, its roots lie in the common everyday world and the best examples of it can be seen as Charles Darwin noticed in something as simple and common as the beak of a bird on a remote patch of ground.
We are huge fans of all things about design, especially when it turns out to be good design and love to study, inspect, and observe all parts of it in our life.
