Is it I or does it seem like every golf season a golf manufacturer comes out with the latest and greatest golf club claiming its place as the very best for longer and more accurate drives? Golf club manufacturers know the passion golfers have for the game so they are always looking to improve their products performance. Many years ago a club’s shaft was made of wood and the head was small, unlike today where the head looks like the size of a grapefruit.

Most golf shafts today are made of steel or a carbon-fiber and resin composite. Carbon fiber is lighter than steel, more expensive than steel but clubs with carbon-fiber shafts also tend to be more expensive, and the striking of the ball has a different vibration to it.

Imagine what it would be like for today’s average golfer to hit with a wood shaft and the head of the club slightly larger than the golf ball it would hit? Imagine how the pros would do with these same clubs? It wouldn’t make exciting golf or would it? I don’t think the Golf Channel would be around. Thankfully, the game has grown up and we get to not only play with the most technically advanced equipment, but we get to watch the best in the game do their thing 24/7.
